Introducing Ask An Ally

Ask An Ally is Evolve Communities’ dedicated, judgment-free space where anyone can get clear, culturally informed guidance on engaging respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. In simple terms, Ask An Ally is a service where a community ally specialist answers anonymous questions to help you navigate cultural interactions with confidence and support workplace cultural safety. This empowers leaders, teams, and individuals to engage more meaningfully while avoiding the fear of ‘getting it wrong.’

Whether you work in HR, community engagement, leadership, or frontline service roles, it’s completely normal to feel unsure about the right terminology, cultural protocols, or how to respond when communication styles differ. Many well-intentioned people hesitate, worried their questions might seem offensive or uninformed. And yet, these questions are exactly what help us grow as effective Allies.

That’s why Evolve created Ask An Ally. Instead of staying silent or second-guessing yourself, you now have access to Carla Rogers, our experienced community ally specialist with more than thirty years of on-the-ground experience working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Here, you can ask anything anonymously and receive guidance designed to strengthen your cultural confidence, deepen relationships, and support workplace cultural safety without fear of being ridiculed, shamed or blamed.

Head on over to Ask An Ally, to check out some recently asked questions and answers and to submit your own!
